What this book is about

This Destiny 1 Grimoire page covers the City's great factions. They emerged from the Faction Wars, which ended when Guardians restored order under the Speaker and the City Consensus. Each faction gets a short profile, and most are paired with a Ghost Fragment that shows a darker side of its work.

You read lab records from the Future War Cult. They describe experiments with a recovered Golden Age Device that sends subjects' minds forward in time, often at terrible cost. A recording found by a Dead Orbit scavenger tells how the crew of the Sophia went after an unknown station near Ceres, called A-113, and kept the find from the Tower.

The New Monarchy's section lays out its Seven Tenets. Most read as civic ideals about security, science and harmony, but the last one reveals what the faction ultimately wants for the City's government.

Factions

In the City's earliest days, various factions vied for the hearts and minds of the refugee masses. Power struggles threatened to shatter an already tenuous existence.

The following conflicts, known as the Faction Wars, brought the City to its knees. When the chaos grew intolerable, a gathering of Guardians fought to end the conflict. The new peace brought a new order: the City Consensus and the Speaker ruled together, and the surviving great factions worked through civil channels to pursue their agendas.

That order still holds, but as the City reaches out into the frontier, the factions see new opportunities everywhere - and a chance to win over Guardians to their cause.
