What this book is about

This Destiny 1 Grimoire book introduces the Hive, an ancient enemy that treats the war between Light and Dark as a crusade to devour all Light. It moves through their ranks, from swarming Thrall and zealous Knights to Ogres and the sorcerous Wizards, then the sects tied to the Moon, Crota, and a master the Cryptarchs keep finding named in Hive rituals: Oryx.

Later entries turn personal. A Guardian on the Dreadnaught describes Hive that seem to study and ritualize the fight. Two Ghost fragments record a fireteam overwhelmed on the Moon and a captured Ghost probed by a Wizard as its Light fades, warning the City that the Hive want Earth.

You also read Ikora and Eris discussing why Omnigul has come to Old Russia and what the Hive might want with Rasputin. The book closes with an unverified journal from Toland, the Shattered, chasing a hidden pattern in Hive speech.

The Hive

The Hive are an ancient, festering evil. Their antipathy to the Light transcends hatred. To the Hive, the eternal struggle between Light and Dark is not only a war, it is a crusade - all Light must be devoured so Darkness can reclaim the universe.
