What this book is about
This Destiny 1 Grimoire page covers Saturn, the ringed gas giant that lies out beyond the Reef. You get a short description of the planet and what little survives of its old knowledge, including its many moons and the giant Titan, a world larger than Mercury.
The page also tells what happened to Saturn's rings, made of ice and dust, when Oryx's Dreadnaught arrived and drove toward the Awoken fleet that stood in its way. A separate entry looks at whether a Guardian's ship could make the journey at all, given the dangers of the Reef and the Deep Black beyond it.
The last entry, a Ghost Fragment titled "Dreams of Alpha Lupi," changes tone. It is written in the second person and follows someone descending toward the planet's night side, past its moons and into its storms, on what they hope is the perfect trajectory.
Rings of Saturn
Saturn's rings are not solid matter. Comprised of uncountable flecks of ice and dust, and shaped by the gravity of Saturn and its many moons, these particulates form two glowing rings around the gaseous planet below.
Or, they did. Then Oryx's Dreadnaught arrived. Its weapon punched right through the rings as it rushed toward the Awoken fleet that stood in its path.
The rings of Saturn spin on. Perhaps one day they will be whole again.
