What this book is about

This Destiny 1 Grimoire page catalogs the weapons and machines the Vex bring to a fight. It reads like a field analyst's notes, looking at each piece from both a tactical and an engineering angle.

You'll learn that the Slap Rifle, Line Rifle and Slap Grenade aren't simple guns or explosives. They work more like terminals or tiny gates, channeling Solar or Void energy from somewhere far away, or possibly from another time. The Line Rifle entry raises an unsettling theory about where its power comes from, and what that might mean about Vex capabilities. The Torch Hammer gets a brief, grim description of its strange-matter rounds.

The page closes on the Cyclops, the stationary construct Guardians know as a gun platform. Here the notes suggest its true purpose may be something else entirely, and they end with an observation about how it behaves once it has been damaged.

Slap Rifle

From a tactical perspective, the Slap Rifle is a Vex directed-energy weapon that fills their analog of the light infantry role. From an engineering perspective it's something much more interesting: a terminal. The Slap Rifle receives a bolt of Solar energy from somewhere (or somewhen) else and it points it at a target.

The terminal's flexibility is impressive. In non-combat conditions, the Slap Rifle seems like it might serve as a viable field transmitter, construction tool, navigational beacon, network repeater, or any of a number of other utility functions.
