VANGUARD OPERATIONAL BRIEF

STATUS: Active Investigation

CLEARANCE: Vanguard Restricted

Recent Guardian operations aboard the Leviathan have raised new concerns regarding the identity and capabilities of Emperor Calus. The entity encountered within the throne room was not Calus himself. It was a machine. Subsequent reconnaissance revealed additional automata bearing the Emperor's likeness stored within the vessel. Their exact number remains unknown. Whether these constructs are simple replacements, remote vessels through which Calus communicates, or part of a larger contingency remains undetermined. The Vanguard requires answers.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

- Confirm the continued presence of additional Calus automata aboard the Leviathan.

- Determine whether individual units operate independently or are controlled from a central source.

- Recover mechanical and communications data from any inactive units when possible.

- Identify production, storage, or maintenance facilities associated with the constructs.

- Establish whether the true Emperor Calus is physically present aboard the vessel.

OPERATIONAL NOTES

Calus has demonstrated an unusual willingness to invite Guardians aboard the Leviathan and subject them to controlled trials. Do not mistake hospitality for cooperation.

The Loyalists consider the Emperor's commands absolute, and the Leviathan itself should be treated as hostile territory regardless of whatever assurances Calus provides.

Engagement with active automata is authorized if necessary. Recovery of intact systems takes priority over destruction.

We know what the Guardians encountered. We do not yet know who was speaking through it.
