What this book is about

This book collects the places where Destiny seems to point back at Halo, Bungie's earlier series. It opens in Destiny 1: The Taken King, where a scannable sleeper pod in the Cosmodrome holds a Guardian of exceptional Light who chose to stay asleep rather than return to war. You'll see why many fans connect him to Master Chief's ending in Halo 3, and how far that reading has, and hasn't, been confirmed.

From there it moves to The Forerunner, the Exotic sidearm from Destiny 2's 30th Anniversary, earned through Xûr's quest Magnum Opus. Its lore has Banshee studying a relic built for a giant hand, with hints about where it truly came from.

The book closes with smaller nods: the BxR-55 Battler, the Grunt Birthday Party wish in the Last Wish raid, and a helmet-shaped tower on Mars from Destiny 1.

The Sleeper in Pod 10201

No Destiny lore entry shows Master Chief floating in space. The closest thing is in Destiny 1: The Taken King's story mission Cayde's Stash, in the Cosmodrome. Your Ghost can scan a sleeper pod numbered 10201. Its story is of a Guardian of exceptional Light who sealed himself inside centuries ago; when the Ghost tried to wake him, he chose to keep sleeping because he had seen enough war.

That mirrors the end of Halo 3, where Master Chief goes into cryosleep in half of a wrecked ship drifting through space. Destinypedia tags the pod as a Master Chief Easter egg, and the press has written that some fans read it that way, but Bungie has never confirmed it.
