You'll learn how its alternate timeline sits many years before Destiny 1 and Destiny 2, as humanity emerges from the Collapse into the early City Age. There's no Tower yet. Ghosts raise fixed Lightbearer characters, each with a Relic that grants a Super, and familiar faces like Iron Lord Jolder appear with different fates.

You'll also visit Haven, a refuge in the Old City under a Tree of Light, protected by Lord Radegast. It's where the newly risen Wolf is brought, and one of the outposts that will grow into the Last City.

The final entry turns to the Nine, written as the IX, who watch more than one reality and shape the game's challenges, and to why the timeline exists at all.

A Different Dark Age

Destiny: Rising is a mobile game made by NetEase under license from Bungie. It came out worldwide on August 28, 2025, for Android and iOS.

It tells a story in an alternate Destiny timeline, set many years before Destiny 1 and Destiny 2. Humanity is climbing out of the Collapse and a long dark age, at the very start of what the main games call the City Age. Survivors gather in outposts like Haven, and those outposts lay the groundwork for the Last City that comes later.

Much of what players know isn't there yet. There is no Tower and no Guardians in the familiar sense, and the Hunter, Titan and Warlock classes haven't settled into shape. Instead, Ghosts raise a new generation of Lightbearers, each a fixed character with their own weapons and a Relic that gives them a Super.

Bungie and NetEase call it an alternate timeline, and Destinypedia lists it as not connected to the main Destiny universe. Characters from the main games appear, sometimes with different fates: Iron Lord Jolder is alive here, though in the main timeline she died to SIVA.
